Weir played in 25 events in 2002. He put himself in contention a number of times, but failed to convert in his final rounds. He started off the season at the Mercedes Championships. He started out great but then finished weaker, finishing tied for 14th. He also started off well at both the Honda Classic, and the Players Championship, but he failed to maintain his position throughout the final rounds. Weir also participated in the Accenture Match Play World Golf Championships this year where he won his first round, but lost in his second round to Scott McCarron, who ended up finishing second. Since then, Weir's best finish has been at the Buick Classic with a tie for 12th. He finished the season at 78th on the PGA Tour Money list.
