Weir had an unforgettable 2003 season. He kicked off the season at the Phoenix Open where he had his best finish in quite some time. He finished in a tie for 9th. The next week, Weir played in the five day Bob Hope Chrysler Classic. He was in the top 10 at the end of four of the five days, including the final day; finishing 1st. He won by shooting a final round, 67, in the windy conditions. He began Sunday four strokes back of leader, Tim Herron and finished in first by two. The next couple weeks, Weir was again in contention. At the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, Weir played well, finishing third. The week after, at the Nissan Open, Weir again played phenomenally. He entered Sunday's round seven strokes back of Charles Howell III and finished in first, winning his second event of the season in a playoff. Then came the Masters. Here, he played amazing. He entered the weekend with the 36 hole lead and never let up. He finished in 1st, winning in a playoff over Len Mattiace. This major victory was the first ever in Canadian men's golf history. A few weeks later, Weir was still playing well, finishing in 3rd three times in a row; first at The Memorial, again at The U.S. Open, and finally at the Western Open. Following the Western Open, Weir played in the British Open, finishing in 28th through the difficult conditions. At the final major of the season, the PGA Championship, Weir was again playing well, ending up in a tie for 7th. Weir then travelled north to Hamilton, where he participated in the Bell Canadian Open. Under much hometown pressure, Weir placed well, finishing in 10th. Finally to cap off an unforgettable season, Weir played in the Tour Championship. He finished in a tie for 19th, 15 strokes back of winner, Chad Campbell. Weir ended up finishing in 5th place on the PGA Tour Money list.
