As a lefty myself and Canadian I was really drawn to Mike when he started on the tour. I hadn't heard much of him before that(Canadian golf coverage poor). But I like others soon became a devoted fan. It was terriffic having a Canadian to follow and root for on the tour. His success was remarkable and the first chance I had to see him play was the 2003 PGA in Rochester as it was close since we lived on the St Lawrence River in Ontario.
Four of us went down for the last practice round and day 1 of the tournament. Mike played very well and could have won except for a tough start on Sunday.
But I want to pass on to Mike how proud I was as a spectator talking to fans from Canada and the US. Please let me pass on this experience. We were on the Par 3, 3rd hole which was playing very difficult with lots of 4's and worse. Mike hit onto the left side of the green and the ball rolled back against the edge of the fringe about 15-20 feet away. He bladed a wedge into the hole for birdie.
We were beside ourselves jumping up and down. A lady sitting next to me says "you must be from Canada"? I said that it must be obvious the way we were carrying on. She said "no, but you do say eh a lot". Well she goes on to tell me that she and her husband are from Illinois and travel to all the major tournaments. She spoke so favourably about Mike in how he always spends time after the rounds signing autographs and talking with the younger fans. Much more than other players. She said that she wished their US players were like Mike, more generous with their time and especially with children. She indicated that she and her husband were big Mike Weir fans as well. This was a truly memorable moment for me and my buddies. I then followed Mike for the rest of the day. His play was fantastic and showed that he had a chance to win. As I walked those holes, I met many more Weir fans and was impressed by the support for Mike. But what impressed me most was that it was not just his golf but Mike the person that they admired. This sealed the deal for me as a loyal fan.
Last year I saw Mike's game returning to form (from the injury) and want to wish him well for this year and know he will win. I have tickets for both the US Open at Oakmount, and the Presidents Cup at Royal Montreal.
The challenges facing a pro golfer are huge with such great talent today. Mike certainly is one of the best and I believe the best Canadian to play the game. But mostly, I will remember the lady at Oak Hill who reminds me that Mike's an even greater person for what he unselfishly offers to others.
Sincerely yours, a proud Canadian and Lefty!! Bob Larocque.
I recently downloaded Mike Wilson's Golf Tips from your Website. His Golf Tip No. 3, A Key for Great Bunker Play caught my eye because I have always had problems getting out of the sand. His suggestion to rotate the wedge more on the backswing was excellent. I have tried this a number of times since and it has improved my sand shots 100%. Many thanks for the tip. From Ross in Cape Breton.
Congratulations to Mike on his excellent finish at the U.S. Open. I must agree with several other writers regarding television coverage. Why does Mike not get shown on TV (unless he hits a bad shot)? I was totally disgusted watching the U.S. Open and not being able to see how Mike was doing. I had to go on the internet afterwards to see his score. The least they could do is run the scores at the bottom of the screen so that everyone would know how their favourite golfers are doing - I rarely watch golf anymore because of this. I'm sick of watching Tiger, Vijay, Phil, etc. all the time - there are other golfers in the tournament after all! Is there any place we can write to express our views about this? Thanks. Mrs. L. Cadieux from Sarnia, Ontario.
I would like to know why the American channels are showing so little of Mike
Weir on TV. Last weekend his name was not even on the scoreboard showing on TV
at only 3 strokes from the winning score. They never showed him finishing on the
18th when they showed Steve Stricker. So what is the problem, what do his
sponsors do about it...

Hi Mike
Greetings from Ipperwash Ont. I am one who wishes you all the best no matter
what type of game you play. You always look a gentleman and act like one.
Wanted to see you play this winter when we were in Mesa Az but just getting a
little too old to walk the golf courses. Your neighbors from this area say hello
and good luck. Betty Drake at jdrake@execulink.com
It hasn't sunk in yet for most people that the masters is truly a test for to make a golfer great. You Mike have won this and you are a great golfer. As a Canadian you are not only a great golfer but a fantastice athlete and person overall.
Good Luck this year in the 2006 PGA tour
Joe. Hamilton,Ontario, Canada
Mike - YOU ROCK! I would never watch golf on T.V. if it wasn't for you. You'll win again, and again, and again. I would bet money on it! If you are ever in Saskatchewan and want to go fishing at a really quiet, private lake, please don't hesitate to call. You and Wayne are Canadian heroes. Keep up the good work.

I am an old "hacker" of 77 yrs and have followed Canadian golf
for many years and have see all of our great ones. I feel that
Mike is the best of them all. I have just watched the Pebble
Beach golf tournament? but have seen very little of Mike even
though he has led or tied the lead since day one. I recognize
the history of that tournament from Bing Crosby and his Clambake
and that the celebrity's are part of it but I watch it for the golf
primarily and not the for antics of some of these "celebrities"
which get to the point of being ridiculous. The Americans are
such "homers" in their broadcasts and do not give Mike the
air time that his play deserves. Mickelson is a great player but
not in this tourney but they showed him far more than they
did Mike. Fair is fair and I want to see Mike be rewarded with
the same TV exposure when he is leading the golf tournament.
I hope it changes on Sunday's telecast. (and a little less of
Bill Murray please) Ken McLarty
hey mike, Way to go. great to see you on final day of the Chrysler Bob Hope. Good luck in the future.
Gerry Parrott
Congratulations on coming back from your front nine with a 31. That took some fortitude. I salute you and wish you well for the remaining tournament.
All of Canada is with you and we're so proud of all you've accomplished. Tried to get in to see you at the downtown Bell opening yesterday, but your legion of fans beat me to it. Best of luck.
Sharon Gostola
Mike, I know '05 has not been what you wanted but you have had some success anyway, so all I wanted to say was all the best this week and go out there and have a great time playing and the heck with all the rest. Just have fun and I am sure you will score well because that is what it is all about when you come right down to it.
Having FUN and taking it all in and then when its over its over.....take care of yourself.

Mike: It must be hard to deal with media, former/current pro"s all the time, especially when your game is in the "yip" stage. Don't dispair, just do what you feel is necessary, and do your best; that's all you can do, with no regrets for the past, or for some area you have no control over. Stay focused, and we'll continue to pray that your confidence returns in time for the U.S. Open. Remember: Confidence doesn't come from winning, Winning comes from confidence, and Confidence comes from hard work!! My regards to you, and your family Mike, keep up the good work. Hey Mike,
I'm a lefty from Verona Ontario. Just a note to let you know that it
ticks soooo many of us off
with the bias that comes from T.V commentators. It seems that when you
pull off an amazing shot
or go on a birdie barrage, it's not a big deal to them. Just to let you
know we all think you are the
greatest here in Verona!
Keep up the great job and show'em how it's done!

Hi Mike: We really enjoy watching golf on t.v. and really enjoy it when you're playing. We're saddened a bit that the Canadian golfers aren't televised during a tournament as much as others but nevertheless, we are rooting for you whenever you do play. We're proud of you! God bless you. Rick & Betty M.
We were at the Masters for the first time and it turned out to be the thrill
of a life- time. We were there to see you win! Now we are heading down to
Augusta for the second time. Your swing is back, and you finished well at
Sawgrass in spite of the lousy weather. Seems like you are on your way to a
great year. We have belonged to Huron Oaks Golf Club for about 18 years,
and everyone is so proud of you, because you are a fine athlete, but also a
fine gentlemen - a wonderful roll model for all the young golfers coming
along. See you at the Masters. We'll be cheering for you. Jane & Ted

I'm happy to see that Mike is getting back in the hunt again and even getting some air time on the US TV network. After watching him miss so many "makeable" putts, I can't help but wonder if he has ever tried or considered going to a "2-ball" style putter. They seem to really help with alignment.Good luck at Riviera....Garfield Wesley,Norwood On. Ca.
Hey Mike that was a great performance on Sunday at Pebble Beach, a few
more putts drop and Phil's in trouble. Keep it going and have a great
tournment at the Nissan Open, there's nothing wrong with 3 in a row. Marty.

Hi Mike. I'm just a 31 year old crap golfer who just happens to be a hockey fan from Winnipeg. I have followed you from your "Esquire days" and at this dark time in Canadian sport (ie: hockey), thank you for being 100% Canadian and giving me something to watch on T.V. Seriously though you are a true roll model for my kids (and myself) keep up the good work and hope to share a pop with you one day.
Randy Grieman
Mike,
Congratulations on another great season. My best weekends were watching my
20 month old son swing his plastic golf club and saying "Mike Weir," and
watching you play on Sunday afternoon.
John. Newmarket, Ontario
I am 64 years old and I was at the Canadian Open cheering for you all the way because you are the best thing that has happened to Canada ever. The most important thing you have done is to inspire the young people of Canada to go after their dreams and to never give up. If you never win another golf tournment you can hold your head high for the rest of your life.
I personally will be cheering you on in each and every golf tournament you play in while I am alive and when I am gone I will be watching your greatness continue. You are on your way and you will win many more golf tournaments including the majors because you are a talented world class golfer. Remember Mike to win a game of golf is nice but your biggest acheivement is the way you have developed as a human being and the fine manner you have attained at such a young age. God be with you Mike all Canadians are fully appreciative of the way you represent us and our beloved country CANADA.
All the best Mike, Bob Cunningham.
...way to go Mike. Shake it off. You are still the best Canadian Golfer ever.

Mike, I couldn't begin to imagine how much pressure you were under during the Bell Canadian Open, I watched with much enthusiasm and pride. You do us proud. Linda M.
Mike,
Great run yesterday and you 'did' Canada proud. Your determination and
demeanor are inspirational to all golfers. I learned to play with my dad,
who is also a lefty, many years ago and I still marvel at how well you guys
strike the ball!
A proud Canadian
Ted Matthews
I would just like to say that you are a great champion and you make Canada
very proud. You show so much class when you are on the course. I would
like to wish you all the luck in the world in your future endeavours and
look forward to seeing you on other tours. Donna Perry
Hey Mike,
You are the reason I watch golf on tv. You are a tremendous athlete and should be proud of your playing this week at the Bell Open.
What a ending...........
How lucky are you though to have two girls who adore their dad and couldn't wait to hug their dad.
Keep swinging.
Charlotte.
Mike you gave Vijay a good run . love to watch you play. terrific demeanor,You are a great inspiration to golfers of all ages & a great role model for young players.
Doris Bentley, Hamilton
We would just like to say that no matter what Mike does (win or lose) he will always be a champion to Canada!!! He is the guy with the most class & pizazz of anyone on the PGA tour today.
God Bless you Mike & may you bring it home next year!

Congratulations Mike on your second place showing this year.
You kept us on the edge of our chairs on the last nine holes and made it one of the most exciting golf games in many a year.
You did yourself proud and all Canadians are equally proud of you. We know there are many more exciting games left in your promising career and we Canadians will be right there enjoying them with you.
Thanks for the excitement Mike.
Jim Turner - avid golfer
Hi Mike, I am a great fan, I started playing golf at 50 y. over 5 years ago, and I love the game, you have not only inspired young players to start but older ones like me. Good luck. Roland Lafrance, Regina, Saskatchewan
We watch you play golf. We know that you live in Draper, Utah, but are you a citizen of the United States? We are enjoying your gift as a player We'd like to see you win the Bell Canadian. Wayne & Ruth Persson (wrpersson@msn.com)
congratulations mike, good finish to a hard course today, don and bonnie, manitoba
I just finished the Mike Weir story by Lorne Rubenstein. Mike's dedication and perserverence were the things that impressed me the most. I beleive that winning the Masters is only the beginning. There will be more chapters, more books. We are so short of heros these days. I go back to Superman, Maurice Richard, Gordie Howe, Mickey Mantle and Wayne Gretzky. Now we have Mike!! A true champion, a hero, and maybe most importantly a true gentleman and a Canadian to boot. Your parents must be proud; I know I am!!
my name is Stefanie and I just wanted to say that I love what you do because I love golf and you're an excellent player. Even if this e-mail doesn't go to you but to you're fanclub or something, I still took the time to write you this, because I sincerely think you're excellent. I'm very hapy that a canadian like you and me can be popular or can do what we want to do and to be somebody that evreryone one knows. Just continue to be the best like you always did.
just a note to congratulate Mike on his win yesterday - that rain looked horrible (I never play in the rain!!!) - a noble effort and very exciting at the finish. My family all root for Mike at all times. Catherine Rainer, Dartmouth, Nova Scotia.
Thanks Mike from Alex and Karen Currie from Vancouver, BC & Scottsdale, AZ
Mike - Very proud of you here in Chatham, Ontario! Go get 'um! Wish you great success for the rest of this year.Regards from Maple City Country Club. Sandy Samways
I've been watching the PGA Championship and rooting for Mike all the way. Please tell him that all his fans are rooting for him especially me. I had a birthday on Thursday (my 75th) and my golf is not as good as I would like it to be - hit in the fairway but not as long as I would like. However, I take great pleasure in watching Mike and I wish him the best of luck for tomorrow. Catherine Rainer,Dartmouth, N.S.
Dear Mike, We did see you at the phoenix open ,and here you have been for many years .We love to see you play and be such a wonderful player. There are a lot of good players but we look for the best Candian players. We did hope that both of you would do good at the open ,and felt bad about Ian.It must have been a very difficult course, and to see only 4 players under par.We wish you all the best and hope to see you many more times in phoenix and for the rest on T.V.Take good care of your nice family.Gurben
HI MIKE; I was born and raised in Sarnia....MARGARET ST spent 28

Sarnia Golf Club Buletin in 1998. CONGRATS ON YOUR
SUCESSES...particularly THE MASTERS!!! Keep up the exceptional work,
I will be watching.!!!!!!.Walter Kane
Hi Mike
I am a senior citizen living in Sarnia,Ont and was so thrilled at your success at the Master's I could do nothing but cry with emotion. I watch you very faithfully when you are on TV. I took the liberty of phoning your dad, whom I do not even know, to congratulate him and your mom in parenting such an extra-ordinary son. To me it is not only your golf victories that make you so special but your total demeanor on the course. You certainly are someone for our young to look up to and admire and hopefully follow your example.
We love and respect you Mike - Never change.
Congratulations to you and your whole family
God Bless

Hi Mike,
I doubt you remember me, but I lived down the street from you growing up 1002 Devine Street. Marnie Young<----Maiden name married name is Marnie Balbuena . I live in Miami , Fla now. I am so Happy you WON !!!!!!! CONGRATULATIONS !!!! I remember you very small walking threw the pathway beside my house to the school yard , I watched you threw the window for hours..........you were always dedicated to golf, I remember people saying back then, WOW if this little boy is so into golf he is going to win BIG . VERY EXCITED YOU WON, It's NICE to talk to people and say HEY THAT WAS MY NEIGHBOUR IN CANADA, Sarnia , Ontario. VERY PROUD OF YOU !!
Marnie
Mike we are all so very proud of you and what you have accomplished! Sarnia, Brights Grove and the Bluewater area is going nutts!! Congratulations signs are posted all over the city!! You are always #1 with us at home!!
Trish and Family in Corunna, Ontario
Mike's victory at the Masters, reminds me of the first time he was invited at the Canadian Skins Game I think in PEI. Most people felt that he did not belong to participate with the three others.........
Than there was the Canadian Skins Game in Mont-Tremblant Québec where the other participants were Fred Couples, David Duval and John Daly........But guess what? Mike won the Skins Game and found the confidence he needed. Than he started his quest for becoming one of the PGA Tour's top players.
This is what I recall the most!!!
So thanks to those who "took a chance" and decided to include Mike in the Canadian Skins Game. They deserve a big thank you!
And now, let's keep supporting our Canuck who has become the best lefty on the Tour and Master Champion!
My name is Melissa Fiesser (Kempe). I went to St. Michael's School with Mike
and lived three doors down from him in Bright's Grove. I just wanted to say
Congratulations Mike! I'm so proud to have known you when we were growing up
in Bright's Grove. I can remember seeing Mike throwing his clubs into the
trunk of his dad's car and then taking off to Huron Oaks with Todd(and then
beating him that same day, even though he was older).
Mike,
I was very happy that you won the Master's Golf Tournament. I have always been a fan of yours and the class you have always displayed. Charles
Mike,
Just wanted to send my congratulations for a terrific finish at the Master's.
You had me glued to the tv for two days. I'm a fellow BYU graduate who
also plays left-handed. I'm glad you could be the first lefty to win a
Master's.
Good luck in future tournaments Mike.
Brayden, Tucson AZ
The Blue Jay's World Series wins, Canada's gold medals in men's and women's ice hockey, Pelletier and Sale, and now this. Be proud man, you earned it!
Glenn Baigent (a Canuck in NY)
Congratulations Mike! Your win on Sunday was one of the most exciting moments in Canadian sports history. Your play was flawless and I couldn't be more proud to be Canadian. Keep up the great play.
Freda Veale, Calgary
P.S. You look great in green!
Hi,
Please see that this email gets to Mike Weir. I am writing on behalf of my mother and father and entire family tonight. We are all golfers and big fans of Mike’s. We watched with pride today as Mike won the Masters – we yelled, screamed, jumped up and down and cheered during today’s game and for hours afterwards – my father and I are still toasting him. My mother, who is home for the last few weeks of her life as she is dying from cancer, was so excited to see Mike win! The whole family was sitting on my mother’s bed as we watched the last 5 holes played – WAY TO GO MIKE, YOU DESERVE IT – YOU MAKE US PROUD TO BE CANADIAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Cathie
Mike, fabulous week at the masters. All of us in Edmonton are extremely proud. Keep up the great play.
Regards
Jack Thomson
Mike, you do Canadians proud. Congratulations, I hope you now get the respect from the golf world that I have always had for you. You represent Canadians as they are. Well mannered and respectful, and not entirely full of themselves.
Regards, Jim Lorman
The Masters was, without doubt, the best weekend of golf viewing for
Canadians ever. We finally got to see full TV coverage of our living
Canadian legend, who with grit, determination, flair and a never-say-die
attitude made us all, up here in the frozen north, so very proud. Not only
is Mike an inspiration to young golfers, but to a 53 year old lefty hacker
playing out of Priddis Greens in Calgary, he has made me more determined to
refocus on my game. I'm totally drained, after sharing all the stress over
every putt. Great great job Mike, "you're the man" eh!
Rod Garland
Mike-
Huge win! All that hard work is really paying off. Three wins in '03 and
it's only April. Your short game was terrific this week and that was the
difference, particularly at Augusta.
Don't let the name fool you! I am not your coach..... although I have been
taking credit for your game for quite a while. I used to take quite a bit of
your money, but now I only do a $2.00 Nassau.
Keep up the great golf. We are all very proud of you.
Mike Wilson
Mike just a short note from up in Barrie ONT were a group of guys getting out every Sunday to hack some balls around and watching you on tv ,congratulation from us all on your fantastic win at the masters.Keep it up were watching you! Stan Cook...and friends
You've made Canada proud!

Mike/s pressure puts in the last round were outstanding added to his decison

Congrtulations, you make all of us in Canada very proud. GO on and Win the
next major and show the world.

Please pass my congratulations to Mike - that Green Jacket looks great on him. What a wonderful weekend of golf. I know all of Canada is pleased for Mike. I know he has had my support for many years. Good luck in the future. Catherine Rainer Email - cmrainer@ns.sympatico.ca
Congratualtions Mike on your Masters victory! I do not know if this is
the site to send it to, so I hope you see it. But, I watched it with nailbiting anticipation! As far as I am concerned, this ranked up with Canada's win in the Men's and Women's
hockey and Donivan Bailey's gold medal in the 100M sprint. I am not a golfer
but what you did makes me proud to be a Canadian!
You have made history in this country!
Iain
Hi, Mike --
I've followed your career for many years, and hoped 2003 would
be prime time. Only wish my late father, a lifetime fan, could have
been there with me to see such a brilliant Canadian golfer finally
show the world and win the Masters. You thoroughly earned it -- and
how many 21st century competitors will have his Masters' green jacket
put on by Tiger?
Your fellow Canadians couldn't be prouder. None of us can even
know how hard you worked, or what you gave up, to get to Augusta, but
we do know how to try and tell you what a boost you gave your country
and all golf fans.
Very best regards --
Elsie Wollaston, Vancouver, B.C.
Dear Mike,
Wow! Congratulations Mike.
I am so thrilled for you to win the most coveted golf tournament in the world. You displayed the mental toughness, modesty, and sense of humour that makes you so unique.
What a day for Canada! MIKE WEIR , RANDY FERBY, PAUL TRACEY.
"Unbelievable"; Do not say this again because it is very believable especially from Canada's number 1 golfer and the world's number 1 golfer.
Gord
Mike does Canada proud. A fine Ambassador. Ted
Mike:
What a credit you are to Canada. Thank you for being such a magnificent ambassador in these times of such delicate relationships between us and the U.S. I don't know what your political views are but I certainly enjoy the Americans seeing a Canadian with the class and poise that you possess.
It is a pleasure to see such a talented classy person succeed as you have. May you have continued success always.
Sincerely, Roger Dougherty. Edmonton.
Like the winning goal by Dave Henderson in 1972, your win today will go
down
in the annals of Canadian sports history. All I can say is, ATTA'
BOY!!!!!
Hi Mike,
George Knudson, Al Balding and many others must be smiling up in heaven.
Congratulations fellow Canuck,
Pete
We here in Canada are just delighted with your great gutsy win of The Masters. Congratulations form Peter and Mary Tuttle.
We could not ber happier!!!!!!!
Dear Mike,
I feel as if we played it with you -- we're exhausted and thrilled!! What a
great show of steadiness and skill. I was especially impressed by your
excellent manners after winning; not many men remember to remove their hats
when shaking hands.
We're Americans, but our family spends some time many summers in Ontario
(Lake Temagami), so we feel a special bond to Canada. Your country (and
ours) must be very proud.
Congratulations and thanks for giving all of us a very exciting Masters 2003!
Barb Parker
Hi Mike,
Although I'm not much of a golfer and although I don't think this will mean much to you, I wish to congratulate you on your work since you first came on the PGA scene. Your stick-to-ittiveness is what has always impressed me about you even in the media was not always showing your efforts, especially when Tiger was around....
Again my congratulations for your every day hard work !!!

Wow! What a victory! Mike, we are so proud of you and your CLASS ACT!. You are the perfect person to represent Canada and every one here is so immensely proud of you. Thank you for being who you are.
Congratulation again from Gerrie Aplin, Brandon, Manitoba.
Trevor, I see you too were born on the best day of the year. I was also born on St.
Patrick's day, hence my name, but a little earlier than you, 1938 to be
exact. Nevertheless even this old guy was ecstatic over Mike's victory today
As a golfer and a Canadian (I live in Brampton, Ontario) he made us all
proud and he already has my vote for Top Canadian Male Athlete of the Year. Thanks, Pat.
Dear Mike,
Your Masters victory is unquestionably one of the greatest days in Canadian sports. It was made all the more exciting with you at or near the top of the leaderboard for the full three days. While you seemed so calm, cool and collected, making virtually all of your puts within 10 feet, it was incredible nail-biting suspense for us at home.
We were talking about your upcoming season with an American friend in Florida last Christmas, who said he liked your chances in the Masters. We, on the other hand, were highly doubtful given your disappointing 2002 season. However, your Hope and Nissan wins restored our faith in you, and boy did you deliver this weekend.
I don't think there is a golfer in the world who would not want to trade places with you so far in 2003. We hope 2003 will be a 'PGA Player of the Year' year for you.
David and Eleanor Rodgers
Mike,
We are still hoarse from cheering for you. Fantastic! We are thrilled for you. You deserve this wonderful victory. What a class act you are! You are truly a Canadian treasure. Keep up the great shots. See you at the Bell Canadian Open at Hamilton Golf. We can hardly wait and will be volunteering that week. Thanks for such a special victory.
Nancy Rundle

Congratulations Mike,
That was a great display of golf for the 4 days. I love the way you just keep plugging away, not letting anything bother you.
Those puts on 16, 17 & 18 you looked so cool doing them and they were not easy.
Great work, enjoy the day and all the benefits that come with it…….
Doug
Congratulations for your victory at the Masters.
I live in Montreal and follow your carreer very closely.
Today's achievement makes you a shining Star in the Canadian Skies. I hope
your succes will continue.
Once again, thank you for the great moments and may God bless you and your
family.

Mike, congratulations on your thrilling win at Augusta today. As a
fellow Canadian I was so proud of you today that I like you at your
jacket presentation was left almost speechless with joy and pride for
you. Once again let me congratulate you and your family for what must
truly be one of the most inspiring times of your life. I'm every bit as
proud of you today as I was of our national hockey teams for their gold
medal performances. Way to go Mike, way to go Canada.
Your's truly Kevin
&Dixie &son Michael (Milestone,Sask.)
Congratulations Mike. My dad brother and I all play at Huron Oaks and have been watching you for many years and are extremely happy that you won the Masters. We were at Huron Oaks watching you sink the final putt to win and the place went wild. I have won many big junior golf tournaments around Ontario and have my name on some tropihes that you have won. Your a great inspiration for junior golf in Canada. Keep up the amazing work. Matt Hill, Bright's Grove, Ontario
CONGRATULATIONS, FROM RICK SALISBURY, WISH I COULD HAVE BEEN THERE!!! YOU MAKE CANADA PROUD!!
Mike,
I just finished viewing the final round coverage of the Masters. To say that I was ecstatic when you won the first playoff hole would be an understatement.
I think that I had everything (that is possible) crossed, including fingers and toes. My wife thought that I was losing my mind. ( I think)
As a proud Canadian, your victory has once again reinorced my belief that regardless of the odds, we can accomplish anything if we set our minds to it.
Winning the Masters is an exceptional accomplishment. The victory is even more significant because it is the first time a Canadian has ever won this event.
As a Canadian soldier, I thank you for achieving this victory. You have done your country proud and for that we are thankful.
I will add as a footnote, ( and as I mentioned to my wife) that after your final putt for victory, you were typically Canadian, rejoicing but not grandstanding. Again another Canadian trait. You do your country proud.
I just want you to know that there are many of us Canadians that are there cheering for you. (silently) We are there nonetheless.
We wish you all the success that life's opportunities present to you and I hope that I will get the opportunity to see you at the Canadian Skins in Niagara on the Lake, Ontario in 2003. (If you attend)
Again thank you for restoring my belief that we can accomplish anything if we put our mind to it. Yours was an amazing feat.
Respectfully
A Canadian Soldier
Dear Mike
Just wanted to congratulate you on a history making win, and also to tell you my dad Gil Walker was a very good golfer at the London Hunt Club in London, Ontario. He passed away at the age of 86, in 1999, but
